Yey…Spring is here!  Isn’t it a nice feeling? The sun shining, daffodils in abundance, lighter nights, and birds chirping. We all love Spring from a personal point of view, but have you thought about what it means for your business? How about some seasonal business tips…

With the first signs of Spring often comes ‘Spring Cleaning’.  But what about giving your business a ‘Spring Clean’ to freshen things up, maximise performance, ensure your business isn’t vulnerable from a security point of view, as well as boosting your marketing efforts and productivity?

How To Spring Clean Your Business

There’s lots of ways you can spring clean your business but from a technology point of view, here’s a few pointers:

1. Website

Can you look at your website and say it reflects your business 100% and is all the content correct? Do you have all your products and services on there? Do all the links work? Is the ‘Our Team’ page up to date? Could your website be improved in any way? Is it converting visitors to customers? What about behind the scenes, is everything updated? One good way to check is to visit your website as a potential customer and navigate your way around.

2. Security

Security is one thing that often gets overlooked…until there’s a breach. Here are some ideas of things to think about:

  • Do you have all the online security you need like a Web Application Firewall (WAF)?
  • Are you backing up your data away from your server?
  • Are you protected against attacks such as Ransomware, Malware, Viruses etc?
  • Have you checked that your admin password is secure?
  • Can you run a security scan against your website to ensure it is clean and hasn’t been hacked already?
  • Have you checked that all your plugins, themes and wordpress are on the latest and most secure versions?

This is just a short list and it doesn’t matter what time of your it is you should be thinking about security all of the time!!

3. Marketing Plan

You probably created a marketing plan back in January with lots of goals and objectives. Have you cheked back to make sure you’re progressing and meeting those objectives? Now is a great time to review your marketing plan and update it if necessary.

4. Email Marketing List

If you don’t have an email marketing list now is a good time to set one up. Email marketing is a great way to stay in touch with existing customers and to build relationships with potential customers. Your existing list might have a lot of bounced email addresses and also unsubscribes…have you relayed that information back to your CRM system?

5. Inbox

We all receive a lot of emails from customers, suppliers, marketing sources etc but if your inbox has a large amount of unread emails or unactioned emails now is a good time to give it a little declutter…it’s amazing how good you feel when you’ve got an empty(ish) inbox!
